I have horrible dark circles and my eyes are very puffy. I’m only 18, and I’m worried that they’ll only worsen when I get older. It’s part hereditary but also from lack of sleep (which i AM working on). Besides getting more sleep, what would any of you suggest?Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

This is the age old question lol. One thing that definately helps, even if it is partially hereditary, is drinking A LOT of water. And I’ve heard some people say that putting cold spoons under your eyes helps to reduce bagginess. If you’re like me, I have natural purple circles under my eyes. For this, use a green cover-up instead of white. The only one I have been able to find is NYC at Wal-Mart. It comes in a tube and looks kind of like lipstick. The green helps neutralize the purple. I put little dots of it and then blend it in, followed by a little foundation. As for the puffiness, definitely try fixing the sleep issues. Drinking lots of water, the old cucumber over the eyes trick, and limiting your salt intake will help. Putting moist tea bags over your eyes can help as well, because of the caffeine. You can also try a cream meant to help with puffy eyes.
Here is an article that should help you get rid of dark circles and puffy eyes. My wife and I use these products because they are safe and natural. But most importantly they work. Read this carefully and go to the website for more detailed information. What Can I Do About Dark Circles Under My Eyes?Dark circles under eyes, baggy eyes or puffy eyes? There is a single solution. It is a gel that contains a number of active compounds that address what “causes” those problems. Before we take a closer look at that eye gel, let’s take a short quiz. Am I getting enough sleep?Depending on you age, dark circles under eyes is often a sign of lack of sleep. If you stay up watching televesion until late at night and don’t get enough sleep, you are likely to wake up with baggy eyes and dark, smudge-like spots, beneath them. If you are getting a little older, your puffy eyes have a different cause, but you can fix that. Am I drinking enough water?Baggy eyes are caused by fluid build-up. The best natural way to get rid of excess fluid is to drink more water. Just be sure to drink purified water, because dark circles under eyes are caused by waste products, primarily toxins and there are lots of those toxins in our tap water. (Chlorinated water can do havoc to the skin. Get at least a shower filter and preferably one for the kitchen. Here is a good source: http://www. CleanWaterPure. comIf you are older, your puffy eyes and dark-circles have a lot to do with capillary damage that has occurred over the years, as well as fluid build-up, of course. The skin, especially underneath your eyes becomes thinner with age and the capillaries don’t transport fluids, effectively. But, there is a way to repair that damage. Creams That Really Work!Clinical studies have shown that peptides, which are tiny protein fragments, promote the production of new cells and fibers. That increases the thickness of the layer beneath the eyes. Some companies have added specific plant-antioxidants that promote capillary health, thereby improving circulation and reducing dark circles under eyes. The research results for creams containing this combination of ingredients were as follows. 65% of volunteers showed a significant reduction in baggy eyes. There are before and after pictures that prove it. If you have puffy eyes and a few wrinkles, you might be interested to know that 62% showed a significant reduction in crow’s feet and other wrinkles in that area. In 60% of volunteers, the dark-smudges they had seen had vanished. What Should You Be Doing?Once again, it depends on your overall state of health and the causes of these hindrances to your appearance, but if your health is good, you get plenty of sleep, avoid pollutants and drink plenty of water, you can get rid of puffy eyes and uneven pigmentation in less than two months. The clinical research proves it. Avoid Bad IngredientsYou should also avoid cosmetics that contain petrolatum, mineral oil, parabens, artificial preservatives and fragrances. You should avoid applying make-up in a manner that stretches the skin. Treat this area gently and baggy eyes will be a thing of the past. Grape seed oil is also highly beneficial in this area. The all-natural approach is the best approach in most healthcare matters and dark circles under eyes are a sign that the skin’s health is failing. Protect it now, before it is too late. It’s important to note that dark circles under the eyes can be indicative of illness or allergies. If you constantly experience dark circles and it has nothing to do with lack of sleep, you’d be well advised to visit your doctor. Do the same if puffiness persists as this could indicate problems with the kidneys or sinuses. Reducing dark under eye circles and puffiness related to lack of sleep isn’t difficult and you don’t need to spend a fortune at the cosmetics counter. If you wake up in the morning and your eyes are dark and puffy, it may indicate water retention. This is easily remedied by drinking a few glasses of water. Since caffeine, salty foods and alcohol only compound the problem, eliminating them from your diet will help prevent water retention. Pat your eyes to distribute the fluid evenly. Don’t rub them though; this may cause swelling which will only make matters worse. Of course, it goes without saying that proper sleep is essential if you want to avoid looking as though you were partying all night. Sleeping with your head raised can help to keep fluid from collecting under your eyes. You don’t need to sleep in a sitting position but using two or three thick pillows can help reduce swelling. If you work in front of a computer all day, it’s important to take a break every couple of hours to rest your eyes. If they feel tired, splash them with some cold water and they will feel rejuvenated. If you could get away with closing your eyes for a few minutes, and not look like you’re sleeping on the job, try to do so to give your tired eyes a rest. It may be that you need something soothing on your eyes. Why not relax for a while with some cucumber slices on your eyes? Ten to thirty minutes on the couch with your eyes closed and your feet up should make you feel like new. Your eyes will feel as if they’ve undergone a spa treatment. If cucumbers aren’t handy, try a cool water compress, a compress of cold milk, an ice pack, potato slices or even some damp tea bags. Tea contains tannin which acts as an astringent. Dampen a couple of tea bags with cold water and place them over your eyes. Relax for fifteen to thirty minutes. This may not feel like a spa treatment, but it’s still a soothing way to eliminate those unsightly bags and circles. Place a couple of spoons in your freezer and leave them for about thirty minutes. Take them out and place them over your eyes. This will sooth them much in the same manner as a cold compress or some cucumber slices. There are also products on the market to not only soothe tired eyes, but to conceal dark circles and puffiness. When going this route, be sure to read the product label and make sure the product is right for you. It’s imperative that you follow all directions implicitly as you don’t want to cause any damage to your eyes. If you were up all night partying, reading or even watching television, you needn’t worry. A cool compress or soothing home remedy will rejuvenate tired eyes and eliminate the evidence before it’s time to leave for work or school. Your eyes work hard for you all day, won’t you take a few minutes out to give them some much needed rest?
Dark circles can treated with regular and gentle care. Cover your eyes with cotton soaked in warm milk for 15 minutes everyday to remove the dark circles around your eyes or dip cotton pads into freshly extracted mint juice, flatten them and place them on closed eyelids for 10 to 15 minutes.
